Russian language is the main cultural and official language of Russia, most commonly used among speakers of Slavic language. First impressions are dated 10th century. While Russian language constitutes the eastern part of Slavic lingua family, it belongs to Indo-European language which relates it to Greek, Latin, and Sanskrit. Over 160 million people in Russia presently speak Russian; it is also used to be a second language for most people of former USSR, as well as the primary language for 750 000 ethnic Jewish immigrants in Israel. Russian is also one of the official UN languages. Russian keyboard was invented in USA, in the 19th century. Manufacturers of all such typewriters always used the same cyrillic keyboard layout, ЙIУКЕН (later, ЙЦУКЕН). In USSR, first typewriter was made only in 1929, still with the latin keyboard layout. Russian keyboard replaced it later.
