Keyboard labels have been carefully designed for German language. We wanted to share some background facts on German language and corresponding alphabet
German is a primary language of germans, austrians, and swiss. It is also spoken in Liechtenstein and Luxembourg. There are over 100 million people around the world who are native German speakers, and about the same number of non-native speakers who use German as a second language. The eariest writings in Old German are dated 6th - 9th century AD. The German alphabet consists of 26 Roman letters, and is extended with 3 umlauts and one ligature symbol.
German keyboard is based on the QWERTZ layout defined in the old DIN 2137-2 German standard, and includes accent keys and additional characters accessed with AltGr.
